Siletz

Role (Junior Graphic Designer): Branding, Concept Design, Messaging, UI Design

The Confederated Tribe of Siletz Indians launched a campaign to educate the public about a proposed casino project in Salem, Oregon. The goal of the project was to garner public and governmental support in allowing the project to go through. As a Junior Graphic Designer at Quinn Thomas, I worked on the initial concept for the website, along with branding and messaging for the campaign.

Problem:
How do we align with our opposition in such a controversial issue?

Solution:
By respecting and finding common ground in the values of ALL stakeholders.

Stakeholders

Due to the scale and scope of this project, there is a long list of stakeholders that we were designing with in mind:

Residents of Salem
Business owners in Salem
Tribal members
Elected officials in Oregon
Visitors of Salem
Investors in Salem

Common Goals

The most common goal between all of the stakeholders was the economic development of Salem, Oregon.

Tribal Communities

A huge part of this project was to pay respect to the tribal communities (especially the Siletz) and their mission/history.
